Binance and MiCA: what the register shows
Short answer: Binance is not found in the ESMA MiCA register (data as of 2026-10-24).c-1 The register lists the companies that may provide crypto-asset services in Latvia. You will find them in the list of licensed exchanges.
What the register shows
- There is no company called "Binance" with an authorisation to provide crypto-asset services in the ESMA MiCA interim register (data as of 2026-10-24).c-1
- Binance is not on ESMA's list of non-compliant entities either.c-2 That proves nothing: the list only contains companies that a regulator has reported.
- Companies currently in the register with an authorisation for crypto exchange or trading in Latvia: 136.c-1
- The register only shows authorisations that were granted. It does not say why a company is not in it.
What MiCA requires
- A crypto-asset service provider in the EU needs an authorisation in one member state. To work in other countries, the authorisation is passported to them.c-3
- Companies that provided services under national law before 30 December 2024 could continue during a transitional period. At EU level it ended no later than 1 July 2026, and member states could set a shorter one.c-3
If you have a Binance account
- Follow the notices in your Binance account and email. That is where the company announces changes to its services in your country.
- Do not move funds in a hurry. First decide where you will keep them.
- If you decide to move to an exchange that is in the register, look it up and check that Latvia is in its authorisation.
How to move crypto-assets safely to another exchange
- Open an account at the new exchange and complete the identity check before you send anything.
- At the new exchange, find the deposit address for exactly the crypto-asset and network you will send. The network must be the same on both sides, otherwise the funds can be lost.
- Send a small test amount first and wait until it arrives.
- Check the first and last characters of the address again, then send the rest.
- Before confirming, look at the withdrawal fee and the network fee.
- Keep your transaction history.
Crypto-assets are high-risk and volatile — you could lose all the money you invest. They are not protected by deposit guarantee or investor compensation schemes.
